Hollow Ward · Spinal & Postural Care

Move like the day isn't against you.

A small chiropractic practice for backs that ache by mid-afternoon, necks that never quite loosen, and bodies that have started negotiating with every staircase. One practitioner, unhurried appointments, a plan you understand.

  • Forty-five minute first visit

Enough time to examine properly, explain what we find, and start treatment the same day.

  • Hands-on, not machine-led

Adjustment, soft tissue work and graded movement, chosen for what your body actually needs.

  • A finish line, always

Every plan has a stated number of visits and a point where you no longer need us.

What brings people in

Most of what we see starts quietly.

Rarely a dramatic injury. Usually a stiffness you worked around for months until it stopped being negotiable. These are the three patterns that fill our week.

Low back & neck strain

The ache that arrives on waking or after an hour upright. We look for where the load is actually landing rather than treating the loudest spot.

  • Lifting strains and recurring lock-ups
  • Stiff, one-sided neck rotation
  • Referred tightness through the shoulder blade

Desk-shaped posture

Nine hours of sitting rewrites how you hold your ribs and jaw. We unpick the habit, then give you two or three things worth doing at your desk.

  • Upper-back and between-the-shoulders tension
  • Headaches that build through the afternoon
  • Shallow breathing and a locked mid-back

Movement that shrank

You stopped running, gardening or reaching overhead because it costs you the next day. We rebuild the range first, then the confidence.

  • Hip and mid-back restriction
  • Returning to sport after a lay-off
  • Staying mobile through later decades

Care & treatments

Four kinds of work, mixed to fit you.

Nothing here is applied as a template. After the assessment we tell you which of these your plan will lean on and why.

Spinal adjustment

Precise, low-force work to restore movement to joints that have stopped sharing the load. Explained before it happens, every time.

Soft tissue release

Focused hands-on work through the muscle and fascia holding a pattern in place, so the adjustment has somewhere to settle.

Graded movement

Two or three exercises at a time, never a printed sheet of twenty. Progressed only when the last set has become easy.

Day-shape review

A practical look at your desk, sleep position, commute and training, because the other 167 hours matter more than the one with us.

Your first visit

No mystery, no surprises.

Forty-five minutes, start to finish. You will leave knowing what is happening in your back and what the next month looks like.

  1. The conversation

What hurts, when it started, what you have already tried, and what you actually want back — the garden, the gym, a full night's sleep.

  2. The examination

Posture, joint movement, muscle response and simple orthopaedic testing. If something sits outside our scope, we say so and point you onward.

  3. Findings and first treatment

A plain-language explanation, treatment on the same visit where it is appropriate, and a written plan with a stated number of sessions.

The practitioner

Dr. Ines Marchetti, D.C.

Hollow Ward is a single-room practice, and that is deliberate. One practitioner means the person who examined you in week one is the person who treats you in week six — no handovers, no repeating your story.

Ines trained in chiropractic after a decade of competitive rowing and two shoulders that taught her more about rehabilitation than she wanted to know. The practice she built reflects that: longer appointments, fewer of them, and an unshakeable preference for explaining a spine rather than mystifying it.

She treats adults and older adults, works regularly with desk-bound professionals and returning athletes, and keeps a standing referral relationship with local physiotherapy and podiatry colleagues for anything better handled elsewhere.

“If you can't repeat back what's wrong with your own back, I haven't finished explaining it.”

Practical questions

The things people ask before booking.

Do I need a referral to be seen?
No. Chiropractic is a primary-contact profession, so you can request an appointment directly. If your care is being coordinated by a doctor or physiotherapist, mention it in your enquiry and we will write to them with your consent.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move in — the kind of thing you would wear to a gentle exercise class. You will be asked to bend, turn and walk a little during the examination. Gowns are available if you would prefer one, and you are welcome to bring someone with you into the room.
How long is a follow-up appointment?
Twenty to twenty-five minutes. Enough to review how the week went, treat, and adjust your movement work. First visits are always the longer forty-five-minute appointment.
Do you treat children or during pregnancy?
We see children from school age and offer modified, low-force care during pregnancy using a support cushion and side-lying positions. Both are gentle by design. Tell us in your enquiry so we can allocate the right appointment length.
How many visits will I need?
You will be given a number in writing at the end of your first visit, along with the point at which we should expect to see a change. If that change has not arrived by then, we reassess or refer rather than continuing indefinitely. Open-ended care plans are not something we offer.
